We took our z8 out today on some trails and we noticed that when we were going down a steep hill we could smell fresh gas.so when we got to the bottom we gave it a good look over but could not find anything and the smell did eventually go away. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen

Yes, there has been two main causes for gas smell. The first and most often is that the retainer ring that the holds the pump and lines on the top of the tank is loose. Just pop the passenger seat out and look down. Just tap it tight with a screwdriver and hammer...not too tight..it is plastic. Remember- righty-tighty, lefty-loosie. :)

The other thing that can happen happened to me. There is a check valve built into the gas tank that well let air in as the fuel is taken out but isn't supposed to let any fuel or fumes out. Mine failed and was shooting gas up the vent tube into the frame. To fix it meant replacing the gas tank as the valve is built in to it on the 2015s. For me being out of warranty, I just installed a secondary check valve on that vent line. There is a How-To in the How To section.

Same here.  Had to remove the fuel lines to get it tight then reinstalled.  Very simple

I checked it out and the plastic ring on the top of the tank was barely hand tight. So I snugged it up real good and we will see how it works. You would think the dealers would check these things before they send them out. I have even found several nuts and bolts on it not tight including on the suspension

All very common. We always recommend checking all the suspension and engine and diff mounting bolts. Many have been found loose and caused damage.
