Have a Z950 HO Ex. I keep seeing parts for footwell protection. Some skid plate kits come with it some not. Is this necessary? A newbie at sxs.

If you ride in woods with larger sticks on the trail sooner or later a tire will flip one up just right and run it through the cab plastic floor. Good skid plates stop this from the very bottom but not the exposed areas in the fender wells behind the tires...mostly the fronts. Even I have had one come through so..IMO, yes, some steel or aluminum protection from the skid plate up the wheel well about a foot at least is a good thing to have. Some people have been hurt or impaled by things coming through the plastics..see it on YT all the time. Mine was just some small stick damage that needed some plastic welding repairs.

Thank you.
I have ordered the Iron Baltic complete skid plate Complete protection. Being impaled by a branch would suck very badly.

I ordered it direct from Iron Baltic.

I agree 100% with NMKawierider based on personal experience, I have had a branch come through the footwell of my RZR.
