mine is the 2012 z6 and i had to replace the mechanical seal at around 800 miles. They do have the 1 piece water pump which makes it so much easier vs just changing the seal and it is not much more money either. Drain the oil and coolant pop off the hoses take out the two bolts that are missing on the new pump and pull on it it comes out hard but it comes out. pop the new one in and replace the hoses put in coolant and oil fire it up. I had to take the small hose off the thermostat to vent out air i found that easier than anything else.

I realize this is an old post. I have the 500HO that's starting leaking out the weep hole. Where did you find the one pice assembly? And will it fit behind the factory cover? I'll keep looking around for more info but any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Looking and both the 2016 500 and the 500HO, looks like only the 500 has the complete unit where the 500HO uses part of the case. So you might be stuck with replacing the seals and shaft...and cover gasket on yours.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, looking on alpha sports they don't seem to have a one pice for it. And it definitely uses the motor housing for the back side of the assembly. Perhaps I misunderstood, I thought the one pice was a retro fit from stock. I'm not against rebuilding the stock one just thought a one pice would be simple.
So you think I should replace the shaft too?

Never mind. I'll replace it all. I went back and looked at the price and adding the shaft, bearing, circlip, and impeller to the seals brings it up to $50 + shipping. So seems like replacing everything except the cover/housing is the way to go.

I suggested the shaft because there were a great many warped shafts that were the cause of early mechanical (water pump) seal failures. That and some loose/sloppy bearings. On the shaft, if you can roll it on a piece of something like glass and the ends of middle don't change more then about .02 using a feeler gauge, it's probably going to be OK to keep using....but I think I would replace it anyway... just because. :)

I figure replacing it all while I'm in there is just good insurance. But now my problem is getting it apart. I got the cover off but can't get the impeller assembly out. It looked like it would just pull out. But no luck. And the service manual doesn't have detailed instructions on getting it out.  Perhaps I should start a new topic to see if anyone on here has done this on the 500HO.

The leak doesn't stop it just gets worse until you have to get the coolant seal along with the oil seal replaced. My Z Force 500 did not start leaking until about 5000KM's and then slowly got worse. This should be a recall but CF Moto is too cheap.

I agree...and no other manufacturer has this kind of water pump seal problems..no one. And it's been going on for years. They need to get this stuff right once and for all. Mine leaked for the first 200 miles then quit when I changed my coolant. Now that its up to 1400 miles I see once in a while a few drops out the weep hole again. I am expecting it to start to get worse...like everyone else's.
