« on: February 10, 2018, 06:24:44 PM »
Should I call my local dealership they said they can order me the door kit and mounting hardware for $182 aside and then the outer skin for the door is $62 a piece my question is I have a Z-Force 500 should these doors interchange?

To my knowledge the ZF 500 and 800 share the same body and basic chassis. If it's true the 1K uses the 800's body and chassis, and I think it does, then they should fit. If not for some strange reason, I'm sure there are plenty of 800 owners that would buy them from you.

I'm just looking to confirm my suspicions but in looking at some pics of the 1000 particularly the doors, it looks as though a conversion would need not only the two doors and associated hardware but the rear body plastic as well.
I want to believe that this will be affordable and practical to do.

Edit. OK a closer look shows it may just be necessary to buy the doors and latch loop and each side rear plastic panel, as these on the hinge model 1000 are made to allow clearance for the door to hinge open at the back.

hey guys, just looked at a friends new 1000, and comparing the two, the body and roll cage look the same.
so I feel pretty sure they will fit, also the dealer told him pretty much the 800 parts will interchange.

I'm also interested in the factory doors.
The ones that I have (Russian) are a bit to tall and makes me feel I'm inside a mine wagon (as another user correctly described the feel).

I'm wonder how the latch receiver is fixed on the body frame ... I expect it's somehow attached on the metal frame behind the front plastic fender..

I don't expect to go without cutting some plastics and drilling some wholes in the metal frame behind it.

Ah the old ore car effect. :) I believe that the Scap doors are even taller!

Actually I believe all that's needed to mod to install the CF Moto half doors is a couple of the plastic rivets removed from where the door latch loop goes, and a couple of threaded inserts popped into that place, two per door.  Then you can attach the door closer latch loops. I don't really know what's going on at the hinge end.

Caveat: when you do that it would be wise to drill the holes in the plastic fender to the outer size of the threaded inserts so that the threaded inserts grab only metal when you pop it in place with the tool, or you will have effectively pop riveted the fender to it's frame mount, and whenever that fender has to come off in the future there will be trouble.

PS. Metal twist drills and plastics don't often like one another and the action of a twist drill can cause the plastic ro spread and crack. If you cracked your Moto fender trying to drill it I'm sure the air would be mighty blue.

Here's what I suggest: If the hole in the plastic is to be 3/8" for instance (and I don't know offhand but let's say)  then take a small piece of 2X4 or similar wood and drill a nice 3/8 hole all the way through.
Now have a friend hold that wood piece very firmly right in the center of the place you want to drill so that it will align a 3/8 flat wood drill perfectly and not allow it to wander. Now drill the plastic out with that flat wood bit and of course stop when the drill bit touches metal. A flat end milling bit will work as well, if you have such a thing.
