I'm having problems sourcing a cvt belt for a cfmoto rancher 600. It has covered 2400 miles or km. The buggy requires a lot of revs to get it to move which I presume would be a stretched or worn belt. I have one price of £214 but have seen after market belts for about £80. Is it a false economy fitting the cheaper belt. I'm totally new to these type and make of vehicle. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds more like a wet clutch issue at that point.  At least I assume those have a wet clutch like all the rest of them do???

I thought the rancher 600 had a dry clutch but I could be wrong. From what I've read on line and watched on you tube. I'm going to order a workshop manual when I find the correct one.

Wet clutch. Should have a manual for you under X6. Check the part numbers for the belt to see if the same as the x5 / cf500. you will find better deals listed under the 500 model. The 600 was not popular. clutching info here.

The symptoms are that the buggy takes more throttle than i would expect it to take off. It just just slips if trying to start on an incline. Is this an expensive repair. There is very little knowledge or advice on these machines where I'm from. I really appreciate all your help

Take the clutch cover off and check the belt and the clutch faces. If the look ok, you might need to replace the wet clutch or a least give it a look. Have you used syn oil in there. If it is not wet clutch approved, it will slip too. I don't think the parts are going to be expensive, but I don't live in AU. Look over the manual and you should get idea of what it will take to get it fixed. I don't think it will be anything major, just time.

Could anyone let me know where the wet clutch is located. Is it behind the cvt housing. I've been looking on line and have only found reference to the primary clutch and secondary clutch. I would expect the wet clutch to be on the same shaft as the primary clutch. Any help is appreciated.

I'm going to give the engine a service tomorrow and have a look into the clutch housing. What oil is recommended. I've noticed from one reply that oil must be wet clutch approved but at the moment have no manual.

If you have a couple hundred miles on it. Rotella T6 is what I use. Good synthetic oil for cheap, good for wet clutches and has a lot of zinc good for toys.
