Cb radio mounting ideas
« on: August 31, 2017, 04:54:38 PM »
I am wanting to mount a cb radio in my z8 and I was, wondering if anyone here has one on their z and how they went about mounting it. I was thinking about somewhere up on the rollcage under the roof because that seems to be the driest place. Just looking for ideas

I have a friend with a RzR and that's where he has his. Kinda just behind the rearview mirror in the center. He does complain some about the mic cable slapping around though.

I am getting ready to add a GMRS radio to my Z. Going to mount to roll cage just behind rear view mirror on passenger side of machine, plugs in to the power outlet. Most of the people I ride with use GMRS/FRS walkie talkies. This radio will communicate with the hand held radios.

Being an amateur radio operator I can say that having the antenna mounted to the roll cage up as high as possible will give you the best signal propagation. The roll cage will act as a counter poise making it a bit more efficient. One thing I will mention is wire your radio directly to the battery. It will help suppress the whining sound from the power generation circuit.
