Changed from brakes locked up, to no brakes
« on: April 20, 2020, 05:35:48 PM »
Coincidence that ponytail has posted about no brakes. Checked my 500 CForce today after all winter, and my brakes (4 wheels) are just about locked up. Bike will move with a lot of force, but brings up standing when throttle is released. Hand brake and foot brake bottom out with absolutely no resistance. Was in a rush and didn't bother to check fluid, but I presume caliper is seized. Anybody run into this? Bike is stored in a heated garage every winter.

So, today I slackened bleed screw on rear caliper for couple seconds and brakes freed up. By the way, I originally presumed 4 wheels were locked up, but this was due to bike in 4 wheel. Both hand and foot brake levers still bottom out with no resistance. Plenty of fluid in both reservoirs. Any thoughts?

That is what mine does. You need to keep bleeding 🩸 the brakes. It still has air in it. We found mine is ONLY the right front every time. But every thing is dry. Weird..... I know. No sign of a leak. Oh yea 0 resistance on the pedal when it does it. Hope this helps.

Thanks. So, do you get any air when you bleed? I tried several times and didn't get any. Just small drop of fluid from rear caliper and small drop from one of two bleed screws on each front caliper. I'll try again.

Someone suggested I put a weight on foot brake, tie hand brake to handle bar, walk away and leave bleed screws open for a while.

If you want to drain the fluid and fill the system with air...that'll do it. You should be getting more then just drops out of the bleeders.
