Are trail zforce more rough
« on: August 08, 2017, 11:34:47 AM »
I have a buddy that has admired my zforce 800 ex and finally went to the dealer to look at buying one and he took his wife and the dealer let him test drive the trail zforce and not the ex he found it to be shakie at idle and rough as hell. Then the dealer put him in a RZR 900 and he said it was smoother and didn't shake my question is does the trail version ride rougher ? I thought it's possible cause I would assume the arms are shorter so less travel and maybe the shock place ment is at a different angle.
My ex  is smooth and he's rode mine before and drove it. Has anyone rode trail, and ex that could shed light on this?

I have. Yes, the trail or "53" is much rougher then the EX...and it is because of the a-arms and shock differences. But I also have drove my friend's RZR 800 and it's almost identical in ride as my 53. Still...If I could have swung it, and didn't need the narrower version, I would have gone with the RzR 900 over the EX. :)

In all fairness, the dealers do set these too stiff...at least mine did...and after resetting all the preloads, compressions, rebounds and getting all the bushings and shock end to work buttery-smooth along with putting on 1.5" spacers and running 8-9psi in radial tires, mine does ride way better then my friends RzR 800. Almost civilized :)

Thanks for the info yeah I figured the short arms had to be why it makes sense to me.

On another note, they really lack grease in the A Arm and Spindle bushings when they are new from the factory. Making the suspension feel rock hard as the arms are not moving freely. Jack the machine up to take the weight off the suspension, grease it and you will notice a big difference...

But yes.... the EX is a smoother ride still.
