a couple of issues with my z force
« on: May 30, 2023, 10:41:40 AM »
I have a 2021 800EX and I have experienced a couple of issues with it. The first issue is when I haul the machine on my trailer and have the parking brake on, it is like the brake doesn't want to release immediately after riding. The lever goes down fine, but the machine appears to drag. Finally it will release and I'm back up to full speed. The second issue is I have noticed when running at high speed on the highway for several minutes it will push oil out from somewhere. I cannot tell exactly where it is coming from. Kind of has me concerned. The fluid is fairly dark--is this likely from the CVT? I am not a mechanic and don't pretend to be so assume I know nothing and you will probably be not far off!

Welcome. Step #1-learn your machine. All of it's systems and how they all work. The new e-brake design applies pressure through a cam onto the brake pad squeezing them as the foot brake might. This act allows the caliper piston to be free and let fluid enter from the master cylinder so when the e-brake is released the pads and slides bare that pressure on the piston and push the fluid back to the master..UNLESS it can't because the peddle isn't adjusted correctly. In that case it will hold that pressure and it will be like the brakes are partly on. Adjust rod so that there is a little play at the top...so that the master's piston is 100% extended to the stop. This will ensure the equalizer port is fully open.

Next. Most often that oil is from one of the diffs because it was overfilled. You can not do it the old way and just fill them to the bottom of the hole, you must put in exactly what the book says. You can put a catchcan on the breather line as many of us have..including myself. There is a How To on that.
