800EX rpm question
« on: February 08, 2016, 08:12:49 PM »
Hey guys, I've read on here about how fast there 800's were, so I thought I would try and see how fast ours was.
Well I ran it up to 70, I think it's got a little more, but it was only turning around 6650 rpm
Stock tires, stock clutch settings, I do have two brothers exh. dynojet tuner with the dynojet map and twin air filter.
My question is don't you think the rpm is a little low, it don't seem to want to turn any
more, almost like that is all she's got.

It is my understanding that there is an RPM limiter and it's set around 7750 but your speed is close to what I get here at 5400 feet..well I get 68mph or so and like you it feels like it has a little more and doesn't feel like it's against a limiter but I wasn't looking at the RPMs when I did mine so I can't compare that. It did sound like it was turning faster then 7750 though...lol There have been top speeds reported between 70 and 79mph though. I wonder sometimes how accurate the tach and/or the speedometers are in these.
