We have had it about a month and since we got it it has been hard to start, it takes about 4 or 5 tries before it will finally go. Not sure this is normal? Thanks for any input.

Agreed, not normal at all. Should just touch the key and it's running like the 800s. May have a weak or bad CPS or something simple like that. Get it checked out...before you wear the starter or starter drives out prematurely.

I am having the same issue with my z 1000, takes 3 or 4 tries for it to start and stay idling. Hoping to get it in in the next few weeks.

Before you guys go too far, pull the mass air sensor/temp sensor out from on top of the intake tube and see if it is covered with oil or dirt. I know when I first went to foam filters I over oiled it and it wouth pull enough oil in that it would get covered. Then it sends a false reading to the ECU. For me it caused sometimes a stall when cold but mostly every time I put it into reverse it would die. Once I cleaned it...and you HAVE to use MASS air flow sensor cleaner...all that would stop. Sense then I use a better oil and get the excess out before installing it and all has been good. May not be your problem but certainly easy to check.

Hey Steve, cleaning the mass air sensor did it for me,  starts with just a bump of the key and purrs like a kitten. You might want to start there first like NMK said.
