2008 cf500-A clutch engagement to hi
« on: December 27, 2019, 06:58:10 PM »
I am working on a 2008 cf 500-A. Starts and runs good but the clutch engagement is to high and after it worms up it gets worse, to the point when you try to back up the reverse override kicks in before it will move.I removed cvt clutch's, everything there looks normal. digging a little deeper I removed the engagement clutch cover. everything still looking normal till i loosed the nut on the shoe clutch, the clutch is loose on the splines. in my mind this means that it wont center itself, and could be causing my hi engagement problem. Any ideas out in Cfmoto land?

Fairly simple wet clutch system same as they use today. If it's been slipping that much bank on not only the shoes being bad but also the bell so replace all of it.. including the shoes, bell&shaft, one-way sprag, bearing and seal and be done with it. The shoe assembly is fixed solidly to the crank so if there is any issue that has caused damage to the crank, you have a real problem as it will require a new crank to fix any damage there. Otherwise just new shoes in the assembly...and springs...and the rest. :)
