Oil leak
« on: January 01, 2020, 01:06:40 PM »
Noticed a drop of oil on my garage floor today and some oil lid up in the middle section of skid plate. The bottom of the engine seems to be coated in a thin film of oil, no signs of oil leak near the top of the engine. Any ideas where I should start looking? I will say I have changed the oil four times with the same crush washer. I last changed my oil 6 months ago. No signs of any leaks. I have ridden my atv in two months except for a short run last week.

The best thing to do is spray it down with engine de-greaser and pressure wash everything clean. Then watch..the output shaft oil seals, the case seem, the drain plug...everything to see where it shows up first. Might also check all the case bolts for correct torque.

Also check that your oil filter is tight and sealing ok.

On further inspection it seems to be leaking from the crank case where it splits in two along the bottom of the engine. Going in for warranty Tuesday. Will post resolution when it’s sorted out.

Mine did the same thing. It was 6 months old with about 1800km on it. CF Moto warrantied it with no issues.

Yeah I also had no issue getting it covered. Been at the dealer now a month ( closed for 5 days if that month due to weather). Was supposed to be ready this week. Won’t be ready until next week now apparently as they were waiting for new rings. Apparently cfmoto recommended replacing rings as well since they had to crack the case open. Overall I don’t feel a month is too bad considering what work had to be done and parts ordered etc. If it’s not ready next week I won’t be too pleased. I also won’t be pleased if this happens again in another 2000kms lol
