dealer wants $300 plus tax for overriding clutch   found these online, anyone every order here.

Look it up on Alpha-Sports.com first, then order it from the cheapest place as both use CF Moto parts. And yes, because you will be pulling that case side cover you will need to drop the oil.

changed out the starter clutch/ spragg, still getting same noise.  new starter ordered.

Did the original spragg look undamaged? The shaft  unmarred?

Have you used a mechanics stethoscope to narrow down the source of the noise? That would tell you instantly if it was the starter.

Did you run it with the cover off? If so, same noise?

I found the starter motor bushing dry on a 500hoe, probably same starter motor.......easy to take apart.
ZF 800 LX Trail, stock for now.......not for long.

replaced  the spragg clutch before winter and was still getting same noise.  replace starter today and fired right up, no noise at all.    hope stays this way lol

See post #21, I have a few of these & the fix is simple. The starter comes apart easily & goes back together the same. Each time there has not been grease in the end cap bushing.

The noise is horrible in the worst case as in yours.
ZF 800 LX Trail, stock for now.......not for long.

do you have any videos of this.   when i took they old starter off and connect to a jumper box it spin freely, i guess no load on it.   still have it and would like to try the regrease and keep it.

shaft was unmarred, not a mark on it.   the original spragg look ok except there was a small crack in it so glad i did change it.
