These have a simple two relay interlock system which relays are triggered by the current from a brake light or the ground for the neutral indicator provides power to the starter system. You can bypass or jumper the relays... or you can simply find and fix the problem. It may only be a bad relay or a mis-adjusted brake light switch... or a bad neutral switch. All an easy fix.

you shouldnt have this problem if the bike is in park. only time you should need to use the brake to start is if you are in H, L,  or R.

dont matter what gear its in.   what i have to do now is depress the brake , move the gear shift back and forth several times fr low to park and then she will usually start in one of the 5 positions.  might have to do this a cpl times before it starts.

didnt realize it but you can start the bike by applying  the hand brake.   works fine a starts right up,  will not start when applying foot brake.   also no brake lights when using the foot brake.
