Charging Problem
« on: December 23, 2020, 06:00:37 PM »
Good Evening, Everyone.

My 2016 CF800 has been an absolute Beast of a mostly work machine.  Suddenly, his volt meter indicates he is putting out less than 12 volts at startup, usually about 11.5 volts, and gradually diminishes over the next half hour or so to the point where eventually I cannot keep him running.  Could anyone please offer any advice on where I might best look first to hopefully correct this problem?  The mechanic cannot fit him in until January 6, but we have snow on the ground, more predicted for the next couple of days, and still more next week - and I plow with my ATV ....

Thanks in advance for any advice!!   :)

Have the battery load tested. If OK, then per the service manual test the stator, then the rectifier/regulator. It's one of those. Probably a toasted coil on the stator though.
