Anyway to lock the shifter?

It seems way to easy for a passenger to bounce around and slam that thing into low

The lock must not be engaged well. Loosen the lock nut under the handle and un-screw(counter-clockwise) it one turn, then re-lock the nut. Try all the positions.

Taking it out of park is the only time I have to press my button.

Well it's under warranty so I'l just take it back to the dealer I just picked it up Friday
