CVT clutch settings for cforce 800?
« on: October 16, 2020, 03:36:58 PM »
Hi All,
Looking for opinions on clutch settings for cforce 800.  Anybody re-clocked their secondary?  Im looking for more response but don't want to compromise top end speed.  I have a 2021 cforce 800 xc eps LX with stock tires.  I'm looking to increase to 28" tires.
Any advise appreciated...I have reached out to Airdam Clutches but unfortunately they must be super busy as I cant get a response after a couple emails.
Thanks in advance!

Call Main Street Cycle for your airdam clutch kit (662) 438-6407, I got my clutch kit from there, it was around $150 i think, ( I got a few other things too ) I had it within 3 days.

Thanks ROB PLUS, mind if I ask what was included in the "clutch kit"?  I'm thinking, and I could be completely wrong as its only from looking and reading forums and youtube but my understanding is that it would only be re-clocking the secondary and changing out the weights in the primary.  Granted one would need to know what weight  and setting to go with based off driving style and tire size.
Thanks again!

Mike I am thinking of doing the same. What tires are you going with? I want to put 28x11x14 vampire 2 all the way around and then get a clutch kit from airdams as well but Im having a hard time finding rims to go with the tires. I want takes offs. Are you putting the 28s on the stock rims? are you putting 28x9 up front? I tried putting the rear wheels on the front and the rims contact the front shocks. Im thinking about getting 14x8 rims with a 5+3 offset but I don't know if they will fit up front
I advise not going with 11s all the way around especially on an ATV. I've done it and regretted it as it wasted front end parts and increased the turning radious..plus killed my shoulders. The 5+3s will work but I recommend you stay with a 7"...say a 4+3 or a 5+2 and not go over a 10" wide tire.

This was my Brute with the 26x11x14s on 14x8 wheel with 5+3 offset. Kept the wheels..sold the tires for peanuts with less then 100 miles on them.

Hey NMKawierider
I'm planning on keeping the stock rims and going with 9's on the front and 11's on the back, possibly Zilla's.  Although a buddy of mine has a set of 27's he wants to off load cause he wants 30's for his machine and he is willing to part with them for peanuts.
I'm primarily concerned with ground clearance as there are a lot of stumps and shit where I ride so I would be sacrificing a half inch if I go with the 27's but guess I can always grab Highlifters 1.5" lift and dial up the shocks to make up the difference.  Either way, I'm still thinking on the clutch kit as I want more throttle response..and if its only a matter of re-clocking the secondary to achieve it then hell...why not! I was hoping someone with a cforce that has done it could recommend a re-clock setting based on their experience rather than using the trial and error approach.

Please excuse me offering my unrequested input on the matter of ground clearance. :D
After seeing how little G/C my 2017 800 trail had, as delivered (little more than 8 inches) and what it would have taken to increase it enough so that it would not hit anything on the underside, (ride ruining springing and power robbing huge tires) I decided to try a new-to-me philosophy: Bump the G/C as much as practical by things that could be accomplished fairly simply, and then get a good skid plate and let her hit things if it's going to hit things!

I'd have bought Iron Baltic skids but in discussions with Nils Laur it came out that they didn't have access to a Trail Z Force and therefor hadn't developed a skid plate set for them. I went with Ricochet 1/4" aluminum faced with HDPE plastic. This compromise seems to work quite well. The skid plates have some battle scars but nothing that affects their integrity. :)

I'm curious too Rob Plus, what does the clutch 'kit' consist of? Thanks.

I've reached ot to mainstreet and airdam directly a dozen times...even inquired through mainstreets online parts inquiry and I have had zero response from both...well actually Adam from airdam initially responded saying he could help but after answering his questions regarding driving style and tire size I was looking to increase to he hasleft me in the dark...no further communication!

Is there no one else that does clutch kits for these things? surely someone has increased their tire size and needed clutch work...

You don't need a clutch kit for these. Just set the secondary to either C1 or B2 and slap a set of Dr Pulley 24 gram sliders in the primary...and hit the trail.

I'm at B2 with 30" silverback tires.  I have yet to change the weights.
