I purchased my 800XC new, and have had nothing but problems with excessive heat coming from both sides of the engine. So much so, that it burns my calves red, through my jeans.
I've installed heat deflection material on both of the plastic side covers, but nothing helps. It's so bad that I have to ride with my legs setting as far away from the engine area as possible, but I still get burned. There's no overheating problem with the engine, and the fans work fine. Has anyone else had, or heard of this problem, and if so, what is the fix/solution?

Thank you

People have had good luck with wrapping the front exhaust pipe past the mid section as well as the rear as far as it can go. Also because some of that heat us from the radiator, better heat panels on the sides channels it through to the back side..which you may have done already.

Lol..maybe where you are but here it just doesn't get that cold...and not for very long. Although where he is in Tijeras and where I am from, Edgewood, isn't that far from each other and it does get a colder out there then here in Abq.

Guys that have flashed their ECUs say they noticed a lot less heat because the flash adds more fuel and the engine runs significantly cooler.  Haven't done mine yet but plan to.  https://www.atvflashing.com/products/cfmoto-ecu-flashing
