Tired of dust caused by exhaust?
« on: June 28, 2017, 10:59:43 PM »
Was riding with the group last weekend in a dusty area (Owyhee mountains in Idaho) and the rider behind me made a comment that my exhaust was kicking up a lot of dust especially when stopped.  He recommended a fix that others have done to units that have the exhaust pointing  down.
Went to Lowes and purchased a 45degree 1 1/2 inch copper fitting (1 1/4 too small) and attached it to the exhaust pipe.  Fitting a little to large so filled in the space at the top with exhaust patch.  Now exhaust points out not down.  No more kicking up dust, at least with exhaust.

I've never had that. As long as any water can drain out, you should be good. I was thinking if you slotted the clamping area of the fitting, it would compress nicely around the pipe.

Tried that.  Cut 4 slots in the 1.25 inch copper fitting  and expanded it.  Didn't like the way it looked so went back to the 1.5 inch and just filled the gap.
