My battery failed. The starter relay just clicked like mad. Replaced the battery and solenoid. Now when I connect power with the ignition off, the 30a starter fuse immediately blows. I have had out the starter, seems fine. Checked the cable runs for shorts and cant see any. Does anyone have any ideas please?

It wouldn't blow if it didn't go to ground somewhere so..double check all cable connections. Something is wrong somewhere.

If it was fine before you must have hooked up something wrong. It's grounding somewhere or there is a connection you think is tight that's not making good contact.

 By disconnecting various cables I've isolated it to the voltage regulator at the back of the bike
New one ordered
Fingers crossed that will fix it

Let us know how it goes. I haven't had this happen to me yet. I'm wondering if  the bad battery didn't cause a meltdown inside that regulator.

It was a faulty starter motor! Even though the fuse blew without pressing the start button.
