Got a new fan for a 2013 500...New fan has a tube coming out of motor connection - original as fitted has no such item!  To me this seems as though it could be for some kind of pressure connection, but doesn't make sense to me. Photo shows tube...Any ideas ?

Yes, this one is a sealed motor but you have to have a breather for expansion and contraction so position that tube as high up as you can so it never gets under water.
