I have been satisfied with my ride for the 2 months that I have had it.  I followed the break in instructions to the note and even had the dealership conduct the break in oil change.

I plowed 3 inches of snow on Monday without any issue and went riding on Friday.

All was well for the first 2 hours of dirt road riding and then boom, the belt exploded.

Any guesses on why this would happen so soon?

Thanks in advance.

Hard to say without an inspection but belts fail for one of three or a combination of three reasons. 1-The belt got damaged or burned at some point. 2- Heat, the belt became overheated due to the type of operation..and by the way, snow plowing.. especially in high range kills belts fast sometimes. 3-The Belt was defective or the installation was incorrect.  There are other reasons..just not as common.

Thanks for the quick response.

I plowed for about 30 minutes tops.  I was going about 45 MPH on a black top road when the belt failed.  I am hoping that this is the case of a defective belt.

Thanks again.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm pickin up a new 2021 500s in a few days and wondering about what kind of plow and mounts you went with for your machine?

No worries.

They installed the Kolpin 48" blade and they used all mount kit WP2 and ATV push tube.

15-0050 Mount Kit
33-0070 Push Tube
31-0010 Kolpin Plow Blade
31-0048 48" Steel Blade

Aprox $400.
