EFI light flashing on Dash
« on: August 08, 2017, 06:47:57 PM »
So my 2016 Cforce 500 HO's EFI light was flashing on the dash. There was also a constant humming sound which sounded like a fan running while the unit was on as well. So I took it to the dealer and after two weeks and me constantly calling them they said my throttle body assembly needs to be replaced. Even though the unit is less than a year old and only has 83 miles on I am told it's not covered under the warranty...only 90 days. My first question is the throttle seemed fine on it so is it really the throttle body assembly? Secondly is there anyway this would be covered under warranty since the machine only has 83 miles on it? Has anyone else had this problem? The dealer wants over $400 for the part plus labor for the install....I hate putting that kind of money out for a machine that was hardly used. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Take this directly to CF Moto. Go to their US site and get the contact info. Throttle bodies don't just wear out in 83 miles. Even so, that won't make it hum or the EFI light come on. Now a bad fuel pump...or pressure sensor.. yes, that will. There is.. a sensor on the throttle body that can cause the light to flash...but no buzzing noise. I think...well...I think something's not right at your dealer. Better call Sal :)

Thanks for the info! I just contacted CFMoto directly this evening and they are contacting the dealer tomorrow and hopefully straighten this out. My dealer is actually a Ford dealer that now sells CFmotos so I'm not sure how great they are at the ATV servicing.

Powersports are different than autos. I really hope they hired a tech for that side of the business. If you are within a year you should not have to pay for that. No way I would.

I am new to the forum and i am unsure if I am doing this right, but here is my input. I have less than 300 miles on my CForce 500 and purchased it new in 2015. I use it mostly for plowing snow. I took it on 60 mile trip once. This very night, February 24 2018 when a light came on and then it died. The manual was no help at all. This piece has been a problem from the beginning at 43 miles on it. Tonight I am plowing snow and it died. Far from the house. ONCE THE LIGHT CAME ON , and all I heard was clicking, I went to the computer for information and found nothing. So decided that I would  disconnected the battery negative cable and proceeded to get the jump box and stretch out a cord. Sure it is cold here, but I had it on a battery tester and  the alternator was was working (it was kicking out 14 volts) Now the battery is dead. I managed to get it started 3 times and back in the garage. I am changing battery tomorrow. Then I will test out put.
