CForce 550Ho from Australia
« on: June 23, 2016, 05:44:05 PM »
Hi there again, just a few mods i have done to my CF550 nothing flash just making it easier to use.

It started like this,

Added a UHF radio and a bit of storage on the rear,

Next up will be making a bash plate as it works out a lot cheaper for me as shipping to Australia cost more than the parts them self.

Looks like a 'Camelback' water pack normally carried on your back.

I might be tempted to mix a cocktail to put in that pack. Mud and dust always gets in my beer.

Did you check out SPOP.SE for the bash plate?
Easy to install yourself, and does great against sticks and brush. Solid as well, I don't even hear Gravel hitting it.

I did, but unfortunately at the moment I can't push my budget that far, So a sheet of 4mm alloy for $170 AUS$ will have to do.

Mmmm, It is a 3lt bladder, thats one hell of a cocktail..

go for it, thats why I post up stuff like this as you might get a idea you can use.

A few additions over the week end, I never liked not having a recovery point on the front so I have added two Eye points to the front near the winch fair lead.

Enough room to get a 3.5t shackle on to it and still be able to use the winch.

Ended up building a new rack for the rear as the other one was a tad bit small and put a edge all the way around.

Ok so got a few more things done over the weekend, I got a sheet of 4mm thick alloy for the belly plate and while i was there I made up some rock sliders as well they also give me a place to mount the belly plate to on the edge.

Fist up was winching the quad into a easy to work on position, this wife them took care of removing the factory plates and using them a template for the alloy.

Once the factory ones were off we traced it onto the alloy.

Then made up the rock sliders.

Once the alloy was cut it was time to test fit it and get the nutserts into the rock sliders for the mounting points.

I still have to cut one more plate out at the front to protect the winch but i have a template of it ready to go next weekend.

Looks great! I want to do the same to my Z, I know a guy that owns a commercial HVAC company and said he can replicate them on his plasma cutter , thing is huge and awesome to watch it work.

What did you use for the rock sliders?

All I did was used some small 20x20mm box section and slid that in the the frame and then used some 32mm OD 4mm wall tube for the slider, I try to keep it a simple as possible.

Ok so got the bash plate finished off over the week end ready for a big ride this week end, I got the drain hole cut out and bet the plate up to help slide over stuff and to ad some strength to parts.

And one of my dogs thinks the box is for her.

I will be making some plates for the A-arms after this trip as the next big ride i do will have a lot of rock so want some extra protection

Got some 35w LED replacement globes for the headlights, very simple just plug in and play.

Comparison between the lights. Low beam-

High Beam -

Low beam -

High beam -

Low beam and extra lights -

High beam and extra lights -

I have noticed a lot less power draw, I am thinking of wiring the headlights up so the low beam stays on when high beam is on, but we will see how these go first.
