CForce 500 2017 EPS problem
« on: May 05, 2020, 11:07:48 PM »
Hello guys,

I have an CFMoto 520l from 2017 with 800km and is out of warranty. I have a problem with EPS which is not working or let's say works only few degrees. EPS light doesn't flash, the light is off when i start the engine as normally.I removed the eps motor(because is very easy) and looks like is working. Also sensor gives correct command because i can see the motor is reversing as i turn direction. With motor removed i measured the voltage and looks ok +12V/-12V... then i put the motor back and when i turn the voltage drops to 5-6V and i feel the assistance only few degrees. The dealer don't know what to do and they suggest to buy a new eps system or a new ECU but they don't accept return in case one is not necessary.I would really appreciate some suggestions...what else i can check?

Thank you

EPS current draw is huge, it sounds like you may have power issue. Find the fuse holder for the EPS, it will be big fuse like 30 or 40A. Many times it is a bad crimp connector to the fuse blade.

This is assuming you have covered basics such a battery, connections including grounds.

Did you make the voltage measurements? If so you can quickly narrow things down with few voltage drop tests.

Overall I believe the EPS motor & computer have been reliable, surrounding electrical not so much.

I found the problem. The front differential is engaged all the time.I didn't knew how easy should work until i drove a friend same model. Now looks like i have an electrical problem because i checked the motor and the cables though the connector and they are OK. Relays also OK.When i hit 4x4 button the differential motor go to the end engaging the differential too and don't come back.(i have to disassemble to put it in start position). Now i'm trying to figure out all the cables and why is not stooping at 4x4 position. If somebody have a wiring diagram would really help me....

I think there is a wiring diagram in the service manual. I will PM you the download link. Get it within 48 hours.

There is a schematic in manual but the text is to small and the wires colors cannot be read.@NMKawierider thanks for the schematic but looks like is slightly different for 520l eps.Until now : i took the front differential servo on the table and measure all, motor, contacts everything works fine.I powered the actuator on the table with +12/-12V and is working in both directions.I changed the relays.I checked the button switch- works fine.I measured all the wires from differential: some goes to the button some to the dash board some to the relays at the end all the wires go somewhere and none interrupted. When i push the 4x4 button the differential goes to the end engaging the 4x4 and the differential and don't come back when i depress the button.will take it to the dealer today because i'm wasting to much time and don't know what to check.I assume that is wrong wiring since i bought the atv under 100km and never worked. Thank you!

Where is the EPS relay located?  Thanks.
