I was driving my 2016 CFORCE 500 HO in cold (+8F) weather and found that the buttons that control 4WD and Diff Lock to be nearly impossible to operate. Any improvements in these parts would be appreciated. Seemed to be fine at +32F

The rubber around the switches might be holding them back. Try shooting some wd-40 in there and work it in. If it works, than take it apart and DI grease them up.

Cosmos MN by any chance? I should not have been using it in that cold of weather but my grandkids sad eyes get me every time and my wife threatening to kill me if I not take them for a ride. That unit starts really good in the dead of winter!

Yep, Cosmos. The kids live for going for rides. I should go check the river ice when I get some time off work. The crow river is a blast to ride and the banks are high, keeping the wind off you too. When the kids were smaller, I took an old workbelt and the harness from a car seat and used that to keep them inplace on the back of our outlander max. I know it's not the best, but they stood more of a chance of falling off than me rolling it over. They would always fall asleep on me no matter how rough the ride.

We head to the Black Hills every summer and do the trails out there. This will be our third year in a row. We are in the Canby area just about 15 miles from SD. My wife bought me a used 500 HO Sportsman for my 50th birthday and since then have added four more ATVs with this '16 CFMOTO CFORCE 500 HO being the last ATV we got this past year. I never had a lick of issues except for my old Polaris 500 HO when we got to the Black Hills in that altitude. The Polaris Dealer in Belle Fourche showed me a trick to make it work without jetting the carb. He cut two 1-1/4" holes in the air snorkel next to the air filter box and that did the trick. My EFI units had no trouble and even my little 250 Arctic Cat/Kymco had no issues even though it had a carb but it ran lean anyway.
We live in the country so We have 5 acres we can romp around on and 75 acres of farm land to use before and after the crops are out.
Our youngest falls asleep all the time when we ride even at six years of age. I have to watch him like a hawk because he will fall asleep driving.

Can you post a link to where you go in the BH? I've been trying to get out there for awhile now the kids are a little bit older.

I am up on Strawberry hill south of Deadwood SD. We rented a cabin the first year on upper 2 bit road and another cabin the second year on the same road only further in. Lonnemans Cedar Lodge was the first year and Packs place the second year. Both were really great places. We would either drive down US 385 to a Exxon gas station where you could get on trailheads there. There is a guy that rents ATVs there call Mad Mountain Adventure where you can get maps and advice on trails. If you have a smart phone install a map called Avenza Maps which I think was called PDF maps at one time. You can then download maps from the USDA forestry website to use with this app. I would not be without it. If you have an iPad with cell or GPS service on it even better. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/blackhills/maps-pubs/?cid=STELPRDB5203036 From there we trailered our ATVs to different spots along the US 385 route and over in Nemo. Galena has a nice trail and historic cemetery near it. All in all this will be our third year and we are looking forward to checking more spots out. We have not been to the Spearfish canyon and the bridal falls so that is something we are going to check out. There are some rough and many easy trails out there. We had wheels off on a side by side off the edge of one trail. Rocky! Spend the money and get the week passes for about $23. We did not the first year. Minnesota trails suck compared to these. I wish there was more effort put forth by the DNR especially with all the dollars that get blindly donated to them. Sorry that was a charged statement but they need to hear it. Again Minnesota trails suck!
I hope you can get a chance to check out the Black Hills. I want to go further west into the Bighorns and also Moab and Paiute trails.
