Hey. Does cforce 1000 gen2 2023 have a wet clutch?

While we're at it, do you also know if cforce 400 2022 have a wet clutch?

No, neither does. I believe the 800s were the last to have wet clutches, the last to have them was in 2022 but none other had them. That year the 800s had both as they transitioned away from them. It was a shame really.

Thanks bud, so my follow up question is (and i have read your prior great insights on this) since there is no wet clutch, can I use regular CAR Synthetic oil on BOTH? I read about the AM2 spec on some oils that you talked about but it sounded like you only needed AM2 for wet clutches.

Not sure if it helps to answer but my 400 has ONE oil that feeds both the engine and transmission (no separate tranny oil to change), and 1000 has separate oil and tranny changes.

Regardless of the AM2 addition (say you think my bikes DO not need it), is it ok to use a good old regular car synthetic or do i need to get a high rpm motorcycle oil, etc? It would be my objective to use car oil if safe for the engine. That is why I am inquiring first. thanks!

It's always safe to use any oil with the correct viscosity that has the required rating as outlined in the owner's manual. MA2 is also used for its shearing properties as in gear use and needed in shared-sump applications such as in your 400. But I also wonder about other geared and metal-to-metal things like can chains and sprockets, oil pumps and drive chains and gears. Likely not as much but still..a wonder. I suspect it isn't as important in your 1000 as it would be in other applications but t sure wouldn't hurt anything...IMO. Also IMO using 4-stroke gas engine oil is a must over any diesel oil and in my book, using a maximum protection of a high heat, high RPM Motorcycle oil to hopefully maximize the life of these Chinese engines is well worth the extra buck or two. The first lesson my father told me when I was just a pup was "Never go cheap on fluids and filters cause rebuilds aren't.. cheap." I'm sure your engines will be fine with car synthetic as long as it meets the rating requirements.   

Thanks so much, it makes perfect sense. The only reason i bother people on the forum with this is that the owner's manual is very scarce in words - it simply says 5w40, that's it!! (interestingly, it doesn't even "suggest" or recommend the expensive CF moto oil kit). So that leaves much to wonder but it aligns with what you said: that in general any oil of right viscosity will do.

They don't mention AM2 or higher RPM applications, and given they provide 5 years of engine warranty, it makes me wonder, right? Anyhow, thanks so much bud. So for the 400, best to try AM2, for 1000 any car oil should do, but high rpm application "might be better". Thanks for all your contributions to the forum! My respect bro!

It might not have a wet clutch but it DOES require the engine oil to also lubricate the transmission.  The high shearing forces in a transmission will cause viscosity loss in conventional motor oil.  MA2-rated oils have additives to resist this... very important.

I did a lot of reading on the subject when choosing the oil for my CF500's first oil change.  (There is a thread in the CF500 section.)

The new 800 and 1000 cases aren't shared sump so the engine oil doesn't lube the transmission. However it still does in the smaller ones. Nothing wrong with keeping MA2 on everything anyway.

Not sure what's meant by Gen-3 but all after 2023 have seperated engine/transmission cases.

Generation 2 ended in 2023 and from 2024 (I think) or 2025 a brand new 800 / 1000 are on the market. Totally new machines. They are called Gen3.

I know because i snatched the last of Gen2 1000s at a steep 25% discount! :-)

Can you please post a link where CFMoto is calling there 2024s or 25s Generation-3s. I and many others have a very different take on the term "Generation or Gen". For instance, for there to be a second "gen" of something there had to be a first..like the Z800. But for the 950 or 1000, there was no previous version so there is no Gen-2s of the 950/1000. And for there to be a new generation of something there has to be a complete re-design using the same name previous name..such as the ZForce 800. However in the US things are a bit fickle on models and amenities for CFM so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some differences between the Canadian and US advertising. We may piss-off the Chinese enough yet that CFM may not sell here in the future.Who knows...time will tell.

But same with Windows? First Windows out to public 30 years ago was Windows 3.11. Where was Windows 1 and 2? LOL

Here is the answer why it is best to stick to Gen 2 and naming 3 convention... Since everyone is using it online! Don't ask me why LOL.
