What I did to my ZForce 800 Trail this weekend
« on: June 20, 2021, 04:01:09 PM »
I finally got my assortment of goodies that I ordered and I finally have some time to install them. I tackled the easiest first.

While the side mirrors are good, I really like to see what is behind me. So, I got a rear view mirror. It is a panoramic style, fairly cheap as I wasn't sure I would like it. Good thing too as it is a bit large for the ROPS cage.
Anyone have any suggestions as to an easy way to get it to fit tighter around the cage? I was thinking of using some rubber pieces to help with the anti-vibration.

Next, I am going to add the inch and a half wheel extenders. Yes, I know, I bought the Trail version. But, that was all I could find. And, I want to make it a tiny bit less tippy.

I bought some fiberglass exhaust header heat wrap that I want to try to keep the heat out of the engine bay. We'll see how easy that is to apply.

Also, along with the heat wrap, I both a heat and sound self-stick panel to apply to the back of the cab. Maybe it will keep some of the heat out of the cab. Well see.

Finally, I bought UHMW skid plate. I may have to trim some pieces, we'll see.

As I get things done, I will post pictures.
Wow, these things are FUN!!!

Our tubes are 1.66" while the hangar brackets usually fit for Popo and Can Am 1.75" bars. A couple of wraps of black electrical tape around the bar right where you want the bracket to be work well and don't look bad. I have the same 15" mirror.

Something to consider that most people don't, is that the wrapping of exhaust pipes keeps the pipes from radiating heat alright but this increases exhaust gas pressure the further down the pipe you go. This is because the exhaust remains expanded longer than the engineers have optimized conditions for and since there is no sensor in the exhaust system for the EFI to regulate gasoline proportion according to back pressure, the EFI doesn't 'know' there's more back pressure than it expects and it delivers fuel the way it is told to. This means that all things otherwise equal, the fuel mix will be richer than optimal. The very condition for which the EFI is already tasked with compensating (esp. at your altitude).

An aviation mechanic and instructor trainer I know once pointed this out to me. The cooler engine bay comes at a cost of richer fuel mix, greater exhaust system pressure and higher muffler temperature. Not to argue the point, just for discussion.  ;)

Some good mods you have planned, can't wait to see how it comes out.
