I honestly think you guys with all your CVT filtering are making things worse on your CVT's.  The extra restriction is slowing down air movement and more than likely making it hotter in and already an area that often dances on the verge of being to hot already.  Does the engine filtering need addressed....YES!  But the CVT is FAR less prone to having dirt problems.  Its not like it runs grease in there and it will dirty the grease up.  From my experience a little dust through the CVT is FAR less of a problem than heat.  Heat will chew up the belts in no time flat, and when the belts slip you chew up sheaves and blow things apart.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

I am with you on that.
After making test I have run mine without the ducking  yesterday on the street for a few top speed run and the clutch cover are not significaly cooler.

Also i have never heard of a blow belt on the Z.

For the engine filter it's an other story

Im not saying the Z is a known belt blower.  But they will come apart if you heat/cold cycle them enough (the rubber hardens) and the hotter you get them the worse it is for them.  They then become less flexible and start to delaminate sending chunks of rubber flinging off completely or being held on by chunks of fiber chord.  When that happen you now have the belt swinging things in there at a rapid pace and it beats the CVT covers off of it and breaks all kinds of stuff.  I have seen it total a SxS out when that happens (not a Z of course).  Im just saying I think with the CVT filtering you guys are chasing a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.  Does dust go through there? Yup sure does but it doesnt hurt anything either.  In engine internals we are talking about VERY tight tolerances that cant stand dirt or dust being in there or it makes the tolerance to much and it no longer works.  CVT's on the other hand have MASSIVE tolerances and the only thing you really need to do is make sure that there is no large chunks of junk that get  in there and that you are moving plenty of air through it to keep it cool.

The belt on the Z is very high quality. Same belt compagny as many Yamaha sled. Mine was like new @ 3000 km when I put the race kit and new oem belt.
Also, I have remove my clutch cover many time and it was alway clean.
For me, no need to do anything with that.
I will focus on the engine intake.

Lol..well..you guys don't live in a dust cloud like I do..and I guess have not opened your primaries up to find massive amounts of dirt collected and ground into fine powder ..packed on either end of your tracks and your new expensive sliders and tracks being ground down along with the ramps on the secondary. You may not have these issues and if not, good for you, a filter would be a waste of time. For me, heat isn't the problem although yes, if I restrict the airflow I'm sure it will become a problem. Besides, all the big boys and racers are filtering the CVTs. For me..just a dusty casual trail rider that wants things to last a little longer.. why not? :)
