I know that if I park on a steep incline, then I won’t be able to shift out of gear in my 2023 800 trail.

Today I parked on a very very slight incline, and when I went to put it back into gear…..*snap*…..every gear turned into park.


Ended up securing the machine to a tree with a recovery strap and winch, removed the middle cover between the seats, and manually put it in low to get back home.


Now I’m online looking for the part number for a shifter cable assembly.

Bummer..well better a cable then a parking paw or something else internal. My old 15 has a steel rod between the shifter and transmission. It won't break but other things will so I never use Park..ever.

Truth. I was terrified it was going to be something internal that I can’t afford to fix.

I need to get a “spring brake thingy”

I thought they came out with a kit to put a hand brake back on those...and it was free. Might check into that..pretty sure they did something.

They did. My dealer sucks….really bad. ****** motor sports in pikeville, KY.

I see most people have problems with brakes after the hand brake update….so I don’t park on inclines. (I think me parking on inclines twice and having to jerk the shifter into gear, before the update….before I knew it was an issue…..and pulling on the shifter contributed to this failure because I made it weak)
