Rear shocks squeaking
« on: August 16, 2017, 04:53:42 PM »
Hey guys! I finally got my CF back from the shop. It was at the shop for about 6 weeks. I got it home yesterday and rode it around the yard to make sure my fan would cut on. I noticed when riding it everytime i stopped i noticed an awful squeaking sound, almost sounded like it was coming from the transmission. Turns out it was coming from the rear A arms and shocks. I have 110 miles on my machine and had the first oil change while in the shop. Any tips on preventative maintenance as far as checking bolt tightness, grease points, and general things to check for? Thanks in advance!

That's one of the things we all fight...all the time. I have a video on greasing the shock ends which come to you dry from the factory but only need grease every 1000 miles it looks like. The a-arm bushings and rear knuckle bushing along with the sway bar bushings will drive you crazy because if they are not seized on the sleeve and spinning in the a-arm tube, they have run out of grease and are squeaking like mad. Jack one end up so the wheels are off the ground and hit the grease fittings with a good marine-grade grease until it comes out both sides. Clean it off and with a sharpie, put a mark on the bushing end across to the a-arm. After you set it back down see if those marks are still lined up. If not...your bushings are seized and they are rotating in the a-arm tube so no grease got between the sleeve and the bushing...just where it wasn't supposed to. I have a video on fixing that too. It involves gluing the bushings in. Good luck man...like I say most all of us fight this all the time.
