A couple overview pics of progress on my overlanding machine. Just got pintle receiver today, had to see what setup looks like. I'm going to have a frame built for the trailer to give more inside storage room. If my adventure becomes a full time reality, everything I own will be in the machine & trailer, so every where I go, I will always be home. 

One cool thing about the pintle setup is I can remove the Lunette eye ring to deter theft if I decide to go for a trail ride without the trailer. Have to get longer bolt for trailer tongue to install chains. The pintle reciever is rated 20k lbs, the Lunette ring 10k lbs, fully loaded trailer will only be around 1,200lbs, so chains prolly are a moot point, but if I get pulled over LEO might have an issue of no safety chains.

Coming along nice. Before I bought mine I watched some videos on some guys (from Russia I think) using theirs for overland in Europe. They seemed to do well.

The peeps in Europe have built some cool / crazy atv camping trailers. I will be upgrading tires to 25x9-12 8 ply Tusk Terrabites. The current tires are only 4 ply NHS (Not for Highway Service).

This video is just one that I've seen that convinced me to go with Pintel setup, especially since I will be traveling solo. Skip to 10:20 minutes. My empty weight at Lunette ring is already 30lbs measured on scale , so there will be plenty of tongue weight when loaded to minimize rattling at the hitch.

Oh yeah the conventional ball hitches just weren't intended to have enough movement for extream off-road use. The Pintle Hitch or even better the swiveling Pintle Hitch is the only way to go.

I like the swivel hitch idea, but the ones I looked at are about twice the price as my pintle setup.

Yeah and the hitches I found were for like 30-ton trailers..way more then any SxS. I guess you can have either the hitch or the hook swivel...Maybe a smaller one of these.
