Oil change for 2017 Zforce 800
« on: January 02, 2020, 04:10:18 PM »
Just picked up a 2017 Zforce 800 and (190 miles) and want to do an oil change. Went to a dealer today to get a filter and oil.  I asked for 15w40 for a wet clutch (which the owners manual says to use) and was told it doesn’t need that oil.  I’m confused as to what oil should be used in it.  I’m a regular user of synthetic in all my motors.  Can someone please tell me what a good oil is to use? I’m in Colorado so the winter is pretty cold but the machine is stored inside.
Thanks

Any oil that has the JASO rating is OK for wet clutches. Best to use one that has the JASO Ma2. Any 10w40 in either conventional or synthetic is always fine. In fact any 0-15w40 is fine. No w50s. Many people use the Rotella T5&6. Personally I don't use diesel engine oils in gas engines...and would rather use high RPM, high heat racing synthetic motorcycle oil made for shared-sump systems in my four-stroke powersport engines so I pay the extra.. and use Castrol Power 1 or Power RS. I haven't changed my oil in over two years and it's just now getting enough color that I can see it on the stick without looking for the shiny line. Think I will change it this winter. Relax people..it only has about 500 miles on it..lol

I use the Castrol too in all my bikes and quads with no problems. Most oils that are JASO MA2 rated are ok so use what ever you are comfortable with in the correct weight.

Changing from whatever garbage oil is shipped with a new machine to 5w40 full synthetic solved my low oil pressure indicator issues instantly. I swear it ships with jelly in the engine.
