Mine has also cut out completely when in reverse, as the z8 appears to be set lean from the factory would that mean that cf moto would have to do alterations to the ecu ?

I don't know if the ECUs can be adjusted or reflashed at all. These do run pretty close to the line but mostly not too much. This just dyeing is something else...like a TPS..or something. Yet if is was a TPS, then it would do it in forward as well. ..well..some do apparently. Maybe it just needs an adjustment.

If it helps, The Z6 also suffers from the random up and stop. Starts right back up so it's not been a big enough deal for me to look into. As I remember, backing up slowly and letting off the gas does it.

It would be interesting to get the exhaust gas tested on a lean runner, it may give an idea of what's going on ;)

On my Z6 the engine would die when idling or shifting from H to reverse.  They ended up replacing the ECU to fix the issue.

I'm sure it won't fit the CFMoto's system. Nice Idea though. See if you can find one for any CFMoto 800.

I've just been reading up on how the magnum performance chip works, as I understand it connects into the intake temp sensor and fools it by telling the ecu the intake temp is lower than it actually is so then a richer mixture can be achieved.

One thing I have noticed is how much heat comes out of the vent between the seats, and this is where the air intake for the engine is, so she's breathing hot air most of the time, the air intake and vent are just above the exhaust manifold.

Now I'm thinking would moving the air intake improve the lean running, another thing I noticed is that she runs fine when cold, so this would sort of make me think that if the intake air was cooler it may improve the lean running.

Interesting. Hadn't thought of that when I moved mine through the bed to pull in cool air from outside that area. Only thought it ran so much better.. didn't think about the air temp sensor and the EFI system. Well for what it's worth, I am proof-positive that getting cool outside air has a positive effect on engine operation.

I didn't think about it until I read that article about the performance chip, I've removed the air box lid and been out for a test run and she does seem a lot better.
So the next step is to do something like you have done (NMKawierider) for cooler air supply.
