Has anybody replaced the heat shield around the exhaust, mainly on the silencer?  If so, what material did you use?

It's a little rough looking.  I had the muffler/silencer off, so figured I'd see if there was anything better to use.  Seriously though, it's one of the reasons these machines look cheap - the exhaust wrap and the silver heat tape around the CVT piping.

Yeah that stuff started coming off on mine almost immediately. Took it all off within the first month. No issues. Served no purpose..for my needs at least. But...that shield will be necessary..but it does look cheap and like an after-thought.



 

This is what it looks like up close and personal.  Pretty rough.

Bought some of this stuff.  Figured for $38 it was worth the risk.

Handles 1750F...should be more then fine.

Made this.  Looks a little nicer.  Folded it over onto itself, then used furnace tape to secure the edges.  Hope it holds up.
