What year is it? They changed them in 2018/19 I believe. But in all cases there are cable adjusters on either end and a cam adjuster on the ...either calipers or the one single. Start with the cable adjuster first.

its a 2016 we found a cable adjustment at the caliper but it didn't seem to do enough to even engage the pads.

It is possible either one of the pads has lost it's liner or it is so warn out that they either need replaced or the cam needs adjustment. If this just suddenly happened, I would say something came apart but if it came on slowly then try adjusting the cam. Do that by loosening the cable all the way. Then on the end of the unit-center facing toward the front you will see a bolt head with a lock nut under it. Loosen that lock nut, turn the bolt inward until there is no play left in the arm that the cable pulls. Then back it off 1/4-1/2 turn, relock the nut and readjust the cable. Check that the indicator in the pod does some on and off as you pull the handle. If this doesn't work then it need something else so it has to come apart....and that's a bitch...at least I have not been able to take it off..yet.

Here's a pic of the cam adjuster:
