You will need to stick with the OE if for nothing else, to have the same gear ratio as the rear. The bigger question is- what happened and how can it be avoided in the future. CFM diffs are no where as expensive as other brands but..still..they don't give them away either.

Spider gear broke a tooth off and completely blew the housing apart. Trying to pull out of a creek all 4 wheels were on the ground and the front wheels would start hoping some and I'd let out and try again. After about the 4th time, the differential let lose. Never had the wheel spin above 10 mph. I dont think it should have broke and no one there thought it should have either.

Plus there were no roots and the ground wasnt muddy but not completely dry it was a little slick so the wheels should have just spun and not grabbed anything and to cause the failure. I'm not hard on the machine and have been riding my whole life so I know how to ride and know what not to do

Sorry it happened. Wheel-hop is usually an axle or cv joint breaker but if it was uneven traction, then the load drops back to the spiders...and these are not the most "robust" diffs.

Agree  :(

Don't know if this would be of interest, you would have to be a little creative mechanically. I have a complete front differential that the owner broke the RH CV axle when flopping on the side. They tried to remove the axle so they could get the unit home, not sure what they did but now it is jammed & won't come out. As well it always engaged & won't free wheel, in the end it was replaced. If that would be of interest let me know.

Thanks for the offer but at this point I'd rather just buy one with no problems. Was just hoping that there might be a stronger upgrade out there somewhere. It's been good to me for the first 5500 miles on it. I hope it doesnt happen again.
