Hello all, I recently purchased a brand new 2016 ZFORCE 800EX EPS from my closest dealer (about 50 miles away). I took it out 3 times and have put 110 miles on it. On our last ride, mostly trail and some mud, my radiator fan stopped working. I caught it just before it puked and was able to limp it back to camp. After reading on here I came to the conclusion that my EX had fallen victim to the notorious Thermoswitch. I hauled it to the dealer where I told them that I wanted the switch fixed and a general tune up and to check all my fluids. After 2 weeks of not hearing back form the dealer I called. The mechanic said that he hasn't had to work on a CF yet and he doesn't have the service manual or the wiring diagram. So next week he says that it isn't the switch, but the relay instead. So now, exactly 1 month later we are waiting on the new relay to come in so he can install it. I love my CF but my dealer is awful, and the worst part is there is only 3 dealers in the entire state and this is the closest one. I am in no way shape or form a mechanic, but I downloaded the service manual and will be doing all minor work myself from here on out whether it is under warranty or not. I went ahead and purchased an aftermarket thermoswitch for when it blows. Any good tips on where to find parts for my CF? I know about Alphasports already. Thanks for any help!

I'm lucky enough to have a great dealer here in the same city but...also as an old mechanic I never needed...or wanted to take it to them. Never really had any reason to anyway.

Yeah we hear about these types of issues with some dealers and...we hear about the ones that "Get-R-Done" and right now. Most of this stuff you are better off just doing yourself anyway...if you can.

Most definitely, Im ready to move into my house where I can actually go out and tinker with my ride whenever I want. If it wasn't under warranty I would've done it myself, but I wanted them to give it a good look over, but apparently they didn't know what they were looking at anyway.

There's an aftermarket thermoswitch?

Order a fan switch, and install it. If your thermoswitch does fail you can override it.

any switch will work.  All you need to do is splice into the 2 wires on the thermo switch (dont cut them just splice into them) and connect one to each side of a switch.  When the 2 are connected via the switch the fan comes on.  That way even if you have the switch off and the thermo switch calls for the fan it works.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

And I have a simple way to do that in the How To section. Everyone really should do this... just for engine safety if nothing else. These engines don't respond well to being overheated and by the time you see it on the temp gauge, the heads and cylinders are already way too hot..let alone if they are left to go until it starts boiling-over. And lets not forget the oil cooler is up there too and it needs air as well...air the fan gives it too. Those rod bearing are fussy as is...must keep them supplied with cool..er oil or else..they gone as well.
