Dead machine - electrical issues
« on: March 11, 2024, 03:39:29 PM »

Hey guys, so last fall while cleaning the machines to put away for the winter I made the mistake of cleaning my kid's 2017 Z800 with a pressure washer and got water into something I shouldn't have.

When turning the key on the instrument cluster lit up and went out a few times, now won't light up at all.
It was like the battery was completely disconnected from the machine. No lights, winch, fuel pump.. nothing.

Any suggestions on where I should start to get the machine running again and/or get it on the trailer to bring home to further inspect?

The PO kind of hacked the electrical and added a light bar, rock lights, back up lights and a couple other accessories tapping into the system.

Thanks

Start at the battery. Give it a full charge and have it load tested. If good check all the cable connections. If good go from there starting with the main fuse and its known bad holder and work forward from there.
