CVT

Just a quick one, I've decided to start looking into my rattles and whines on my z8, one rattle/vibration I have had I assumed to be the gear linkage or something loose around the engine bay, today I have removed the seats and panels to expose the areas where I thought the rattle was coming from and nothing seems to be causing the rattle externally.

I have fitted silicone hose to the exhaust springs before as I thought the springs vibrating could be responsible, now I can get closer the rattle seems to be coming from the front of the cvt case is there any known problems with the cvt ? (the covers coming off tomorrow)
Thanks in advance ;)

Not much in there that can rattle but a belt that has lost some cogs does make a sound like that as it rolls over the sheaves. Also most of the wet clutches make a sound when you come off idle and before they engage that can sound like a rattle or knocking. One place I had a major rattle was on the heat shroud over the exhaust that comes from the front cylinder. On the rear engine side it was against the springs. Just tool a bar and.."adjusted"..it out some.

It wasn't the cvt  :) it turned out to be a loose  gear shift lever, the one attached to the transmission  :-[
