Well I was cleaning my motor up after a muddy day and fired up the machine to test for leaks. I have a pretty loud grinding or metal rubbing metal noise coming from the clutch but only at idle. When I bring the rpm up, it goes away. I took a vido I'll try and post. Any help would be great. I hope it's not something I hope to take it in for, my dealership here has not been impressive so far.

Mine started making a noise like that on the trail and I was sure something inside was coming apart...and like yours it went away above idle. It ended up being that U-shaped shield over the exhaust rubbing on the exhaust springs on one side. Just had to .."adjust".. it with a large screwdriver.

I didn't even think check the exhaust shield. Probably the simplest solution. I'll check it out. If not I'll be opening it up and taking a look. Thanks

Well kawierider...you were absolutely correct. My heat shield is rubbing on my exhaust springs. What a relief. I still need to open the cvt case and inspect the belt, but I feel much better. Thank you. I'm actually more concerned about the brake pads at this point. The pads are sitting too high on the rotor.

Not much for adjustment there. Check the caliper mounting bolts to see if any are loose..or missing. I would still pull the pads, clean them up and taper that top edge back.

Yes sir, that'll be the plan. Both fronts are like that too. I don't see any missing hardware. Any hope to set them properly or am I just going to eat a lot of brake pads?

The only adjustment I saw on mine was a back set stop and that won't help that. Maybe it isn't pad that's over the top...when I got mine there was some stuff on the disk that I presumed was to stop rust in shipping that the dealer didn't take off before installing the wheels. That not only made for very poor brakes, but some had built-up on the edge of the pads.

I took it apart last night a pulled the pads. They are definitely sitting too high in the caliper. I filed off the lip and oblonged the mounting holes in the pads which seems to help but they are still really high on the disk. I saw the screw but I agree, it doesn't seem like it would help. I'll order some new pads and if they do the same I may end up fillin the caliper mounting hole with weld and re-drilling and holes then run a tap to pull the thing in closer. My driver side isn't much better and my brakes on this machine are trash. I've read some fixes on this forum so once I get the new pads and get them sitting correctly, I'll bled everything and see if there is any improvement.

My buddies z8 was making a horrible noise coming from inside the clutch housing. The bearing that is on the inside of the clutch cover was shot.

did he end up fixing it under warranty, getting the part from cfmoto or using anow outside source for the part?

Do you still have the part number for the NKS bearing?
Also can't get any race kit here in the states so I'll have to come up with my own version.
