Brake light switch location
« on: March 16, 2017, 11:50:11 AM »
One thing I have learned about my CF MOTO purchase, the warranty is useless.  Dealers are always busy working on other junk and can never get to the warranty work for a CF Moto. Every time I've needed work I've had to fix it myself. So my problem now is my brake lights aren't working. I checked the fuses and they're fine. Next step is the brake light switch. Does anybody know where the brake light switch is on the 2016 Z force 800 EX?  The service department at the dealer told me it was attached to the brake pedal. Wrong. Any help would sure be nice. Thanks

On the master cylinder. Master cylinder is on drivers side, front fender well area attached to the firewall.

Sounds like a dealer issue...

My master cylinder looks different.  I have 2 reservoirs with screw caps.

From the service manual:

OK, cool. Thats what I thought. Dealer told me NO, its attached to the brake pedal. Glad to see the dealer knows so much about his product.

Since I can never get it in to a dealer, I guess I will be fixing this myself. Just like the other warranty issues I have had.
Very very frustrating.

Thanks again.

Well, on my 15, it is actually attached to the peddle with a spring that runs through the firewall to the switch that's mounted on a bracket off the master. That switch is adjustable. Looks like the new design is fluid-pressure actuated...not adjustable. Bummer.
