air filter question
« on: May 16, 2016, 04:56:26 PM »
got my new to me 2016 z800 and this is my first atv. I got the uni filter, I also followed some other advice and bought an extra packet of plastic body pins and a pin puller. Now I see all the pictures of the airboxes opened up, but which panel am I pulling to access it. Is the black plastic just in front of rear passenger tire?

Sorry for the novice question, this is all new to me.

Correct...There are two bolts..One on top and one on bottom.  Take those out...Pull outer part of plastic away from the fender. Then pull towards you...(part of the plastic is held in a rubber grommet).  Next undo the clips around the filter housing.  Now you see your filter.  Be sure that the rubber gasket is not damaged.  Mine was...After performing the swap, make sure the gasket goes back in nicely and is not pinched when you install the cover back on.

The following is a link for the service manual for the Zforce which you can download, you will find it very helpful.

Thanks,
I had downloaded that. It showed the exploded view of the airbox, but I was still trying to confirm what and how to tear down to get there.
