Air filter
« on: April 27, 2017, 08:06:36 PM »
Hi all!  New to the site... what do you guys recommend for replacing the stock air filter? Any brand better then the other?   And where are you purchasing from?

Thanks, Dave

Welcome Dave. Yes, either the TwinAir or the Unifilter are what we all use unless it's the mew foam filter from CFM. There are a number of places to get them but Amazon is the easiest. What to get will depend on ...what machine you have. So let us know. I also need to move this thread to what ever machine you have.

OK then a ZForce 800-Trail. Much like mine. You will want to get either of these filters and...REAL foam filter oil and it's cleaner. Not just motor oil. Any that says for use with foam filters will work but on off-road machines it never pays to go cheap with fluids and filters so get a name brand like No-Toil, Fab1, BelRay. Even UniFilter and TwinAir make their own oil and cleaners and they are good too. I use No Toil products.

I use a uni filter with fab1 oil. Local Yamaha dealer said it is the exact same oil that uni uses for a few bucks less, yet it is a great product.

One thing I found out is that if you over-oil these foam filters, at full airflow..like W.O.T., some oil mist gets pulled-in and coats the air temp sensor. Easy enough to pull and clean with the proper sensor cleaner but..why not avoid it and get the extra out by squeezing and rolling it in a paper towel after done working the oil all the way through it. And...always let it sit in the open air a while to dry-down before installing and running it. There is some alcohol in most foam filter oil to help transport it throughout and coat the cells. That needs to dry before using. Only take a few minutes.

I'm Assuming the same part numbers here would be used in a 2016 62" Zforce 800ex eps? Just want to make sure before I order one.
