air cleaners again
« on: June 03, 2018, 02:46:14 PM »
I went to change out the air filter today on motto. I found the inlet tube from air cleaner to air horn hose was deforming on tightening up the clamp on air cleaner and cause the clamp to slip off. I cut a 2 inch exhaust pipe to length and expanded it to fit the inside of inlet tube so now when i tighten up clamp on air cleaner it stays in place. Im thinking the oil on filter attacked the tube or something making it soft . No problem till i started using the oiled filters. Anyone else have this problem??
 thanks

Interesting..no, I have not had that happen...yet...I think. Although I did modify mine a little for the filters I am using...but I have s small mystery I haven't figured-out yet. Seems even with double filters I for some reason still get this small, weird build-up on the upper edge of the throttle plate that looks like what you would see when dust gets through...but taking it and looking at it under a digital microscope, it looks like.. well.. grease. I can't see any dust or grit particles. I just assume it's from the oil in the filters...but maybe it's something else.
