ACCELERATION AND RPM
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:04:25 PM »
I HAVE SEVERAL WEEKS THAT MY Z8 DOES NOT GIVE ME MORE THAN 65 MILES PER HOUR IN 6000 RMP, MONTHS AGO I CAN GET AROUND 68 AND 70 MILES PER HOUR WITH 7500 APROX.
I APPRECIATE THE HELP TO FIGURING OUT WHERE TO STAR LOOKING THE FAILURE.
IT HAS NO MODIFICACION, IN THE CLUTCH AND IN THE ENGINE. IS STOCK

THANKS

Mine has done about the same thing. I can't get past about 6900 RPM and I used to hit the limiter somewhere around 7500 or so. I have some small mods that I thought might have caused it and some extra weight but nothing I have done to change it back to factory has made any real difference. The one thing I did that made some difference is I found air filter oil all over the air temp sensor that's located top of the crossover tube and cleaned it with mass Air sensor cleaner. That raised my top end RPMs about 400. Maybe that oil has damaged it and it needs replaced. I might try that. A buddy of mine..Jogon30..says his did it too and it's his opinion that CFMoto engines just get slower as they age. I hope that's not true...like loss of compression...ect. But mine is running like a watch so..it's a mystery at the moment. I do know that some of the things I have done have made it run leaner..but these things didn't stop it from hitting the RPM limiter before.

I can only suggest making sure the airfilter is clean, that the valves are set correctly, that the fuel pressure and volume is correct..hay..a plugged fuel filter can cause starving...and it will first be noticeable at high RPMs! OK, that's cheap so lets replace it. Its behind the airbox. And come to think of it, it is taking longer these days for the fuel pump to pressure up and shut off. Hmmm..there is also a sock or screen over the intake inside the tank that could also be blocked. Just spin the ring off the assembly and lift it out to check.

Thanks, i will try those recommendations .
Also I will wash the acceleration box and the injectors , because maybe the problem is with the fuel consumption.
if someone has another suggestion would appreciate

Thanks

NMKawierider, stop to think our engine are not strong. The only failure with this engine are related to the bad air filter. I have talk many Time with the guy that in charge of the développement of the racing machine and they have NEVER have a single failure with the V-Twin. The dealer where i have buy my Z have one customer with 28,700km and the engine have never miss a beat.
I run my 800 ALL THE TIME in race mode and it perform like day one.
The factory clutch set up and  front diff are the weak link when you beat the Hell out of it.

Change your oil and air filter and stop to think about the engine.
They are strong.

How is your secondary ?
Do you have check the roller in the primary.? I am sure your trouble is in the clutching, not the engine.

Thank you for your input but I am pretty sure I am well versed on these engines and machines by now. I also have gone well above and beyond what most people do for maintenance and filtration.

Why are you stressed with that engine ?
Do you have seen one engine blow for an other reason than the sand in intake ???

Me? I'm not stressed over my engine. It's running well...although here in the US a great number of CFM engines don't make 2000 miles before have a catastrophic failure of some type indicating something is up with them in general.

I have never read about it online exept failure related to the air filter. What kind of failure do you have see and what is the cause ?

Even in the pool here i have only see one engine failure and the reason are not know.

I have search really hard and only find failure due to the bad air filter.  I know ist pretty easy to destroy any Engine if the regular msintnenance are not done correctly on an offroad machine.

Anyway, for me this engine is rock solid and if they survive to the abuse of racing like they did i am certain they can last a long Time in casual riding condition.

Hell, I still can't get over 55 mph. And never heard the rev limiter except one time in 4WD IN DEEP DEEP snow.  Don't want to call my dealer and say hey I tried to get to 70 ,ph and only got 55.  Feels like I should have more pedal.  Like that lil green screw is stopping it.  I thought that was something they kept on it so you didn't go crazy on a test ride, or so you don't floor it until it's broke in then removed after purchase.  But nmk says it's supposed to be there.  I don't know.
