Good evening! I am new to this forum as I am a new owner of a Cf Moto! I just picked up a 2021 800ex with 350 miles and it seems to have a squeak/grind coming from either the clutch or the rear differential%u2026it increases with speed and can be very loud. It sounds like it is metal on metal but I can%u2019t be sure. I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas or advice on where to start? It%u2019s coming from the rear and can still be heard by revving in neutral which leads me to believe it%u2019s not the differential but don%u2019t know where to start! Thanks!

I believe it is coming from the clutch because it still makes the noise while revving in neutral but it is not as loud as when I am moving. When under 10 mph it is a loud squeak as if something is dry or spinning roughly. As I speed up, it still sounds rough but the squeak isn't there as I believe because the clutch is spinning faster. I haven't had the time yet to dive into it!

When mine had just a few hundred miles on it the exhaust springs started rubbing on the metal guard that the front exhaust tube runs through and screamed like metal to metal so much I was convinced the engine had already taken a dump. Thankfully I found and talked to it with a crowbar a minute and we haven't had another conversation sense. Look in here:

I'll have to check that out...It's almost rhythmic with the rear wheels and so I thought it was the rear differential...I will get a video of what I mean when I get the chance and attach to this thread! Thank you

Said you could rev it in neutral and it still did it......assumed it was sitting still. Check the brake rotors for pad/slide seizing and check the axle nuts for torque and missing cotter pins. Check that the hand brake adjustment allows full retraction.

The noise is still present and sounds rough when I am revving in neutral...the loud squeaking/dry noise comes when I am crawling under 10 or so MPH

Rhythmic with tire rotation could be dry shock mounts. Very common problem.

Hey guys! Got it back from the dealer and turns out it was just the belt! The guy before me put an aftermarket belt on and apparently when doing so it makes it sound like it’s falling apart….crazy I know but it’s all good to go! Thanks again for the help!
