« on: November 28, 2019, 09:38:11 PM »
I bought a 800 trail didnt have it a day and it caught on fire melting a bunch of stuff the dealer replaced everything. I took in for service at a lil over 300 miles everything was fine. There is a lil over 500 miles on it it's been park ed for a month got it out the other day and it wont go over 42 mph at 7750 rpms any ideas?

sounds like clutch slipping or some cvt prolem.  Do you have wet clutch oil in it ?

I have to ask: Were you in low gear?

Else Clark is right. Something is amiss with the CVT not opening up all the way.

What caused the fire?

At 7750 which is the RPM limiter setting, the only thing that will keep it from normal top end in high range is either.. an issue with the clutches, slipping belt or it's not in high range.
