2018 zforce 800ex only 1 injector firing
« on: October 19, 2020, 05:26:14 PM »
Good evening folks. I am new to all of this, and hope I am not posting within the rules lol
I bought a used 2018 zforce 800ex, had 150 miles on it when I took it out for my first ride. I will give you  some history that might give an idea. We went riding up Jerico Mt in NH, it has been very dry and was extremely dusty. Rode for a few hours, when all of the sudden , the thing goes into what seems to be limp mode, and wont go over like 15 mph. I limp all the way down the trail, and reach the bottom about 2 hours later., load it back on the trailer, and drive about 3 hours home. upon searching and testing, we have found that injector 2 isnt getting any power. we put a test light on injector 1 its working fine, probed the wires at the ecu and injector 1 is fine, but no signal coming out for injector 2. tested the wire running from the ecu to injector 2,a d it is good. any ideas?

Welcome. Generally when an injector stops firing it's because it has either failed, it has lost it's connection, the ECU has failed or the most common reason, the crank position sensor has a problem. Is the MIL light flashing? If so, read the code. It will tell you what's wrong.

Yes it is flashing the code, I dont have the codes handy, they are at my work with the side by side, our first thought was the ecu, so I replaced it, with no luck . I was able to test the injector by using the wire from the first injector, and it is working. does the motor have 2 crank sensors, or just 1?

One with multiple pickups I believe. So..what code number is it flashing?

Well..0202=Injector 2 circuit malfunction. 0132= O2s#1 circuit low voltage. Then 0137=O2s#2 Circuit low voltage and a weird one, 0138=O2s #2 circuit high voltage. It acts like there is a system voltage drop. Many have had bad main fuse holders...not the fuse, but the holder itself. They have internal crimps that fail and the resistance is so high it not only heats and melts the holder before it fails, but then it cools and maintains that resistance. So 12 volts is reduced to 9 or 10...or less. It's under the drivers seat in the back compartment. Test the voltage out with the key on..see if it is any different from the voltage into the fuse. If good start looking down-stream...like the distribution fuses and their connections.
